SDL Tridion Integrates Natural Language Search Engine into Web CMS

sdltridion_logo_2009.jpg At the beginning of this month, SDL Tridion (news, site) announced the release of Tridion 2009 -- its Unified Online Marketing Suite -- enabling people in marketing to create entire campaigns at, almost, the touch of a button.

Now comes the news that they have partnered to integrate Q-go's Natural Language Search (NLS) engine with SDL’s web content management system. In effect what Q-go’s NLS aims to do is provide dramatically improved search results for website visitors, while Tridion 2009 offers enhanced customer management.

Combined this could be a lethal dose for competitors.

Marketing Management With Moderandi’s SaaS Solution

growth panel_logo_2009.jpg Here come the Marketeers! Hot on the heels of last week’s launch of SDL Tridion’s (news, site) Unified Online Marketing Suite, Moderandi, an Arizona-based web applications developer, has today launched a new marketing platform called Growth Panel.

Targeting the small-to-medium (SMB) sized business market, this SaaS solution enables marketeers and consultants create plans and manage marketing projects in the cloud.

Moderandi says that this new platform fills a gap in the market that is not being properly serviced, notably for SMBs, who have neither the cash, nor the bandwidth to develop an all-inclusive marketing campaign.

FatWire Named Leader in Web CMS for External Sites

Fatwire A Leader in Forrester Wave for External WebsitesObviously if you make the list of any analyst report -- at least in a good light -- you want the world to know. For FatWire (news, site), that analyst report comes in the form of the Forrester Wave for Web Content Management For External Sites, Q2 2009.

One of three leaders among ten web content management systems listed, FatWire received recognition for “business-user-oriented tools that enable not only the management of content, but targeted delivery, analysis, and optimization of content consumption as well.”

We won't go into the details of the report, we did that in our article SDL Tridion Named Leader in Web CMS for External Sites. Suffice it to say, this report is designed for enterprise level organizations who have money to spare (well, no one really has money to spare these days).

It's worth noting that FatWire is the smallest vendor to make the Forrester Wave list. Does that make it any less good? We doubt it, but sometimes the smaller vendors can give better support.

Get your copy of the Forrester Wave and get more detail on FatWire and the other leaders.

SDL Tridion Named Leader in Web CMS for External Sites

SDL Tridion Named Leader in Web CMS for External SitesThe Forrester Wave for Web Content Management For External Sites, Q2 2009 is out and there are 10 web content management vendors on the list that we all know and love well. SDL Tridion (news, site) took the top honors this time with Interwoven and FatWire close behind.

Why are these three vendors at the top and who else is on the list? Let's take a look.

Tridion, Like Sitecore and Interwoven, Now Offer an Online Marketing Suite

Tridion, Like Sitecore and Interwoven, Now Offer an Online Marketing SuiteIf marketers are finding it difficult at the moment to decide what Web CMS they should be using, then the launch of SDL Tridion’s (news, site) Unified Online Marketing Suite is going to make things that little bit more difficult.

In the past six weeks alone SDL Tridion 2009 and two other marketing suites have entered the market: Sitecore (news, site) and Interwoven (news, site). All three focus on providing solutions that will penetrate customers’ markets where no other solution has gone before.

Star Trek reference’s aside, this is serious business especially considering over 80% of the world’s data is unstructured, coming in the form of social media, blogs, twitter posts, instant messaging, e-mails, documents, videos and rich media.

Taking Too Long to Market to Online Audiences

A new survey by SDL Tridion (news, site), which surveyed 113 marketing, communications and branding decision makers across Europe, revealed business is slow.

Seventy percent of businesses take two weeks or longer to roll out new marketing campaigns. Back in 2007, SDL Tridion conducted a similar survey of U.S. senior marketing executives with similar results.

Back then, 68% of web campaigns didn’t happen on time.

Finding the ROI in Web Content Management

Finding the ROI in Web Content Management

How many reports does it take before Web Content Management vendors change their errant ways and start listening to customers?

If you were to look at the recommendations from The Gilbane Group (news, site) and their Justifying Web Content Management: The Business Case and ROI report, then there is still a sharp learning curve ahead of many.

A simple four-word summary of the report, sponsored by SDL Tridion (news, site), might as well go “Keep it simple, stupid”. While that could be a tad simplistic -- and we’ll be looking at why -- it is a conclusion that keeps hitting the reader smack-bang in the face.

SDL Tridion Partners for Advanced Digital Asset Management

SDL Tridion integrates with ADAM for marketing solutionLast month, when ADAM software (news, site) released its v4.4 of its enterprise Digital Assets Management(DAM) platform it had its eye on a bigger piece of the content management pie.

With the announcement today that its newest release is to be integrated with SDL Tridion’s (news, site) Web Content Management System, it appears to have done what it set out to do.

Bridging the Gap Between Print and Web Content

SDL Tridion Enterprise Web Content Management System

SDL Tridion (news, site) has released a connector for the print publishing favorite Adobe InDesign.

Merging the worlds of print and web will allow organizations to re-use content for different output channels, while doing creative work in InDesign. Ideally, the goal is to achieve greater message consistency and efficiency.

Sitecore Boasts Over 100% Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth

Sitecore Boasts Over 100% Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth

Sitecore, a famed .NET Web CMS vendor, announced that its 2008 revenues have grown by over 100% over the prior fiscal. Reportedly, 95% of revenues are coming from new license sales, 4% — from training and less than 1% — from Professional Services.

While this kind of revenue percentage distribution may seem kind of funky to some, knowing Sitecore’s focus on software development and exclusive outsourcing of PS and related implementation activities to its third-party integrators and partners — we are not surprised.

SDL Tridion Foregoes Its Own Module in Favor of Unica?

SDL Tridion Partners for Enterprise Marketing Management

It wasn’t long ago, when SDL Tridion announced a partnership with WebTrends to improve its online web metrics value proposition. Now they have another partnership.

This new arrangement is dangerously close, yet somewhat different. While WebTrends is tasked with integrating their analytics package with SDL Tridion R5 CMS, Unica will take care of another niche - enterprise marketing management.

Quick Take Review: SDL Tridion R5 Web Content Management System

sdl tridion cms review

What is Tridion? Or is it Trillian, Trideon or Tridian? What can we say, it’s tough being a Euro web content management vendor in the U.S. market.

After conquering most of Europe, SDL Tridion started its Web CMS quest in the U.S. in 2006 with their flagship CMS product — Tridion R5 — an offering that has received accolades from such critics as analyst firm, Gartner. R5 comes with a myriad of standard Web CMS features, like inline editing using SiteEdit and some unique functionality such as the Translation Manager.

This Quick Take Review is an overview of SDL Tridion R5.2 with a detailed summary, full of “meat,” at the tail end of this article.
