New Year and new resolutions. Any enterprise that hasn't made its content mobile must surely be looking at this as one of their resolutions for 2013. What would a year in information management be without SharePoint -- any kind of SharePoint? We have to be careful to clarify now as talking about SharePoint could involve any one of four groups of products. In other words, we could be talking about the 2003 version -- and yes it is still being used -- the 2007 and 2010 version, and SharePoint 2013.

I have one wish for the industry in 2013: that we expect more. I want for all of us who touch SharePoint -- from technical developers to end users -- to elevate our expectations for the platform. I want for users to demand and the industry to deliver the kinds of enterprise-ready solutions that make clunky "workarounds" a thing of the past. And I want to have fun doing it. -- Kevin Conroy, Founder and President, Blue Rooster

I would love to see our industry focus on the user in all things, making it easy for them to use technology in natural and efficient ways. I would love to see the strong community that we have, especially in the SharePoint area, come together and put all our knowledge together for a good cause. We can do a lot with technology, so how can we use our skills to best impact our world. -- Jennifer Mason, SharePoint Server MVP, SharePoint Consultant at Rackspace Hosting

The fun part of every December is to look back at the year and think through all that has happened. Looking at all the ups, the downs and the unknowns can really be an eye opener to get you ready to make the resolutions and plans for the next year, because there really is no point in looking back if you don’t take the extra steps to plan forward.

You know that you’ve had a good trip to Las Vegas when you arrive back home exhausted. By that measure, the SharePoint 2012 Conference was an unmitigated success.
