Co-founder Tim Copeland has announced the ascension of Brian Calhoun as the new CEO of open source firm Silverstripe, the mum-friendly CMS that was nominated "Most Promising" by Packt. (By week's end, they just might win it, too.)
Brian Calhoun is a Silicon Valley cowboy with about 20 years of software experience notched to his belt. We look forward to seeing how his visions shape the company.
Tim will be pursuing opportunities to expand SilverStripe under his own new title, that of Business Development Director. And he's throwing himself into the realm of exploration with gusto. Check out his interview with Dion Almear, who founded Ajaxian.com and currently works at Google.
Earlier this month, SilverStripe released v2.1.0 of its primary offering, specially enhanced for comment modders and widget-wielders.
SilverStripe, the mama-friendly open source CMS that was nominated "Most Promising" by Packt, has just released v2.1.0 of its primary offering.
The updates are extensive. In short, this PHP 5.2-modded version provides support for unit testing, themes and widgets, as well as comment moderation and stronger API documentation, and features for running SilverStripe in safe mode and under open_basedir restrictions. It also addresses bugs that were found in v1 and above.

Following closely in the footsteps of Movable Type 4, which likes to think of itself as less of a blog platform than a harmonious collective of plugins, New Zealand-based Silverstripe has released a blog module with a "drag n' drop widget system."

Wordpress, Expression Engine and Movable Type may be out front in the Micro CMS space, but a little competition is always a good thing. That competition comes in the form of New Zealand based Silverstripe who have released an updated version of their open source CMS product.
