Google is now offering the world a peek at its wearable glass displays, which will be being tested by employees out in the real world in the months to come. If popularized, they will open up a whole new world of local information, marketing and content opportunities.
The Web is moving away from static displays and web pages, and even advertising companies are warming up to the trend of using rich media in their campaigns. A recent study by MediaMind gives credence to the need to spend more effort in building rich media displays, as these attract more web views and user actions than static ad displays by more than 600%.
Finnish mobile maker Nokia has launched its latest Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh smartphone in China, and is looking to make a possible comeback in the smartphone business through this market. With about 1 billion mobile users, the world's biggest mobile phone-using population has much untapped potential, and Nokia wants to bank on the smartphone craze here, in the hopes of regaining its dominance in this industry -- or, at least, additional market share.
Cisco is upping its game in the collaboration and unified communications market, bringing its Jabber video and TelePresence offerings to new platforms and broadening users mobility and connectivity options to encourage wider enterprise adoption.
Competition in the smartphone and tablet market is getting tougher between Apple and Google. Apple is reportedly reducing its dependence on Google in various online and mobile services, and with recent reports that
mBlox announced a cloud-based mobile marketing solution that delivers personalized content to customers while also collecting user analytics.
