Unless one of the other vendors slips a sneaky acquisition under the door by the end of the year, the announcement by IBM that it is buying StoredIQ early in the new year has to be the last throw in consolidation of the information management market for this year.

Over the past years, many companies have joined forces with StoredIQ to build a successful business around the information management solution provider’s technologies and distribution channels. Recently, StoredIQ added NewsGator to their partner list. By doing so, NewsGator Social Sites 2010 customers will be able to manage their social data’s risks in an efficient and cost-effective way.

In the GRC space this week, there’s a lot of records management updates. Laserfiche has been showing off its iPhone records management app at ARMA, DocFinity has released a records management module, StoredIQ has also been working in records management, RSA and McAfee have formed a new partnership and Autonomy has released new policy management software.

It’s been a busy week in GRC. OpenText has released new application governance and archiving software, StoredIQ offers risk assessments of SharePoint environments, EMC and eMag partner to offer e-Discovery, and there’s research from Varonis on metadata and GFI on email archiving.

In GRC this week there have been a number of releases in the e-Discovery space, including a StoredIQ solution for SharePoint and enhanced search across Clearwell's e-Discovery platform. There are also indications that we may be heading toward an e-Discovery standard. Meanwhile, both Viewpointe and Agiliance have issued new releases.

In a busy week for GRC there have been a few notable releases that are worth looking at. The first is from StoredIQ , which has upgraded its e-Discovery support for SharePoint, while Digital Reef has made its e-Discovery a lot more mobile. In other news, Archive Systems has upgraded its records management platform.

Earlier this month, the team behind StoredIQ (news, site) took its Intelligent Information Management Platform and joined NetApp’s Alliance Partner Program. Last week Clearwell and Recommind released updates to their respective eDiscovery platforms. Not to be outdone, StoredIQ (news, site) is leading the charge this week with their own announcement.
StoredIQ now offers classification-based security, available immediately. Now users can grant access to potentially responsive data for audits, investigations and eDiscovery requests based on content classification, rather than only physical location, such as server, share or directory structures.

Last we covered them, StoredIQ was busy launching StoredIQ Solution for Legacy Archived Media, an eDiscovery platform for the enterprise that captures data from all sources, both on- and off-line.
Since then, they've been busy capitalizing on their success. StoredIQ just closed an US$ 8 million investment financing from existing investors, including S3 and Techxas Ventures. They've also added industry veterans Dan Junk as vice president of business development and Ellis Ishaya as vice president of partner development to their management team.
