SilverStripe Recruiting Cunning Linguists

We've all worked for one of these gray, stultifying corporate monstrosities. You know the ones with caffeine-comatose zombies in suits roaming the corridors, and a place in the lobby where you check in your soul on the way in, and collect it again at 5pm.
Yes – they pay well. And yet a great many of us look with just a little bit of envy at smaller startups in interesting and innovative fields - like open source - and kinda wish that we could be in some way involved.
Clay Tablet 2.0 – Connecting Any Translation System to Any CMS
Published on Oct 22, 2007Topics: clay tablet enterprise 2.0 translation
Language is so inconvenient in the information age.
Personally, I like listening to the auld fellas in the Connemara pubs, arguing in Irish. The mile-a-minute babble of Italian teenagers. The cool gossip of French women, shopping in the Marais. The world would be a boring place if we all spoke the same.
But computers hate the fact that people speak different languages. They can't figure it out at all, poor things.

Along with the pleasure of growth comes the familiar pain of multilingual translation.
Translation, a process that seems simple enough, actually requires great skill - not all subcultures or age groups communicate in the same way. Then there's the matter of localization, or better tailoring a product to a certain market, which is also an oft-overlooked element of interpretation.
The point: translation is complex. With that in mind, Language Weaver and Armedia have jointly released Machine Language Translation for the enterprise CMS community.
