First Post-Acquisition Release: IDOLized Interwoven TeamSite

Interwoven TeamSite Runs on Autonomy IDOL.jpg

Now that the earlier announced acquisition intent is a done deal, and the planned layoffs are (as we hear) underway -- what would be a better move for Autonomy and Interwoven than to release a new product based on mutual strengths?

And so they did. One of the products from the company now called Autonomy Interwoven -- the web content management system Interwoven TeamSite -- has been integrated with Autonomy’s Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) platform.

The IDOL-based TeamSite 6.7.2 will allow customers to use IDOL functionalities like (supposedly) faster search, increased scalability, advanced conceptual content technologies, including customer profiling based on a combination of modes of customer interaction (e.g. e-mail, phone, messaging, web browsing behaviors, etc.)

According to Anthony Bettencourt, CEO of Autonomy Interwoven, the goal of this “injection” is to “enable marketers to derive meaning from all forms of digital information -- both structured and unstructured, text audio and video -- on a single platform.”

It won’t be long until we hear from Autonomy Interwoven again. In the meantime, it would be interesting to see how customers are reacting to the new, IDOLized TeamSite.

(Interview) FatWire and the Web CMS Market

FatWire Reports 40% Increase in 2008 Revenue

In a year that has seen falling revenues across the technology field, the content management sector has witnessed healthy returns as some companies report earnings and market growth.

FatWire is one of those companies. The web content management vendor recently reported a solid 2008 fiscal year. With 40% year-over-year growth, strong international demand and a bevy of new customers, FatWire must be doing something right.

We recently interviewed CEO Yogesh Gupta to find out about FatWire's methods and get opinions on the web content management market as a whole.

Collaborative Flash-based Content Management

Flypaper 2.0: Content Management Meets FlashIf you fed Flash to your content management system, you’d get what Flypaper Studio, Inc. has to offer. Their interactive software makes it easy for users to create and reuse Flash content for more razzle dazzle effect and less headache.

The interesting solution was recently recognized by the Arizona Technology Council at the 2008 Governor’s Celebration of Innovation, but if you haven’t heard of it yet, now’s a good time to get familiar. The release of Flypaper 2.0 was announced earlier this month and it’s looking pretty attractive (pun intended).

FatWire Reports 40% Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth

FatWire Reports 40% Increase in 2008 Revenue

Fatwire, the company that provides web content management software, has reported strong results from fiscal year 2008.  This last year was the company's strongest ever, with year-over-year revenue showing a 40% increase and reaching US $44 million in sales in the period ending December 31, 2008.

Much of FatWire's growth stemmed from international demand for their Web CMS product -- Fatwire Content Server 7.5 the latest release of which came out late last year. In fact, the company reported a 30% increase in international demand for their products and a 60% growth year over year for international professional services.

Another added source of revenue was FatWire's customers requesting ongoing maintenance packages compared to 2007.  As for new customers, FatWire reported more than 50 new customers acquired in 2008.

It is good to see another content management company faring well in these rough economic times.  We hope that as companies tighten their belts worldwide, content management continues to be a growth area in the software world.

Web Content Management and Recession -- Unlikely Duo?

It is the time of recession, they say. We wonder: do companies still invest money in Web Content Management?

Recent research indicates that WCM will live despite the economic downturn. Better yet, the CMS industry may even experience growth.
