Windows and Windows Phone 8 customers are hearing some details about Microsoft's plan for updating each system in the coming months, and it starts with a public preview of Windows Blue by the end of June.

Finnish mobile maker Nokia is holding its London launch event and has promised a summer of major launches. First up is the Nokia Lumia 925, an aluminum-cased design, plus the arrival of Hipstamatic on Windows Phone. 

Nokia has taken the wraps off the leaking-like-a-sieve Lumia 928 which will be available on Verizon for just $100. Aside from all the cool camera and video features, the slightly more conventional styling makes it look like a grown-up phone compared to some of the toy brick Lumia designs. 

One of Nokia's lesser-kept secrets, the 928, is officially out of the bag with a single image on a teaser page, while some new advertising suggests what's to come.

Nokia has a lot of minus signs in its latest quarterly figures but its losses are far smaller than during the company's dark times, with Lumia sales firmly on the rise, but not enough to spark a Windows Phone revolution.

After a barrage of negative press due to weak PC sales, and Intel's latest flat quarterly figures, the PC landscape is looking pretty barren. Both parts of the Wintel alliance are making their own moves to try and improve the situation. 

Anyone hoping for big new things from the next Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 device will be left wanting, as it looks like a modest upgrade in technology and power.
