 And the beat goes on for Yammer (news, site). The enterprise-level micro-blogging platform that was once comparable to Twitter recently changed up its style, adopting a full blow social network look. Evidently the makeover is working. Or at least that's the impression we get by the US$ 25 million the company just landed in funding. 

Continuing on with their mission to become everything the enterprise needs in terms of collaboration, Yammer (news, site) hit the headlines this week with some tight SharePoint integration. 

Socialcast (news, site) is yet another player in the enterprise microblogging pool, but with a different twist. Rather than creating a new space for collaboration, Socialcast Reach brings the conversation into already existing applications, such as SharePoint and CRM systems.

While activity feeds and collaboration still proved to be hot stuff this week (thanks, #tcdisrupt), a recent poll revealed what looks like the next game changer in enterprise two-dot-oh.

Move over, Chatter. Today at TechCrunch Disrupt Yammer (news, site) revealed its new enterprise collaboration platform, effectively shelving the "Twitter for for the Enterprise" title in favor of a more social network-savvy look. 

This week we looked at what's going on in the enterprise microblog scene (a LOT), as well as the different enterprise content management systems that support this type of collaboration, among others. 

Microblogging is so much more than the 140-character blurb it once was. Today, it's a concept that's heating the cores of collaboration platforms across the enterprise. And, while conversation is still front-and-center for most providers, we're seeing a lot of solutions dressed in the same accessories. 

Though Salesforce.com's (news, site) enterprise collaboration platform, Chatter,  just hit the market in June, the CRM company is already back with a look into version two-dot-oh. Unsurprisingly, Chatter 2 features even more social goodness than its predecessor, including the ability to "follow" files, dashboard updates, etc.

Today Salesforce.com (news, site) announced that all of the magic of Chatter, their Facebook-like platform for the enterprise, is going mobile. 

Attention all you Yammer (news, site) fans! Today we caught wind of an announcement that makes it sound like the enterprise's favorite microblogging platform is en route to becoming a full E2.0 suite. 

Collaboration is not new to business, but the recent advent of Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0 tools and technologies have changed the collaborative abilities and scale of distributed collaboration for the enterprise. Whether it’s because the “World is Flat” or you want to tap the “Wisdom of Crowds,” collaboration, we are told should be a part of your business strategy.

Poor Microsoft (news, site) suffered all kinds of blows this week. First people were dissatisfied with the release of their Office Web Apps. Then SharePoint's shortcomings were thrown into the spotlight. 

If there was any doubt about Yammer being *the* go-to solution for enterprise microblogging, it was quelled last night when the platform announced its integration with Microsoft SharePoint 2007.

As companies desperately try to find balance between the social media craze and what works for business, vendors continue to hand out solutions like they're candy--especially those of the microblogging variety. The sheer number of options we have these days suggests that internal chatter is here to stay, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're handling it well.
