For its 3.0 release, Krabi & Mask -- the folks behind Zimplit CMS (news, site), have refined the fully rebrandable, commercial version of their CMS to target web hosting resellers looking to add a simple web site creation tool.
Zimplit 3.0 install includes demos, documentation and a selection of templates -- all rebrandable. Zimplit's site-edit toolbar can be customized as well to suit the color scheme and editing needs of the reseller and their target market.

Recently, Scott Suiter from Google stood at Times Square in New York and asked passers-by about their definition of a web browser, as part of the Google Chrome thing and all that. If you were into betting, then this might be a question that you could have a lot of fun with.
However, the answer is not really what’s important today (Suiter, by the way, claims only 8% of people could answer the question accurately). What’s important today is that Czech start-up Webnode (site) got all huffy over the question and has been telling people that the answer doesn’t matter.
Doesn’t matter that is, if you use their simple Web CMS/website builder, because Webnode is that simple you don’t have to even know what a browser is to use it. Ahem!

This week's release of GetSimple CMS (site) is the latest in a line of simple web content management systems that underlines a trend suggesting that micro CMS creators are not just going to lie down for the "biggies."

In yet another rebranding-centric attempt, Simple CMS provider Zimplit (news, site) released its "borrow another site's design to create yours" feature.
By any stretch, this is a brave move by Zimplit. The new Zimplit v3.0 allows you to pick any favorite web site that you like the look of and use that as the basis for your own site's design.

Ever thought of building your very own CMS from scratch? Consider taking Zimplit CMS and putting your logo on it, or naming it after your favorite goldfish.
Zimplit CMS, also known as the “easiest website creation tool ever made,” decided to give customers the ability to fully rebrand the content management system. What exactly does a “rebrandable CMS” mean in this case?

We've been following Zimplit from the very moment of birth of this new open source, PHP-based micro CMS venture. Then, we covered Zimplit on a number of occasions, including when the vendor released Zimplit CMS 1.1 and evolved to the point of adding inline editing capabilities.
So what is it now, you ask? Aside from the fact that the CMS designed for "normal people, not for IT gurus" grew its customer base to more than 50,000 users around the world, Zimplit (all encouraged by this kind of attention to develop further and add new features) released a set of new features to make its little mini CMS more powerful than Mini-Me.

There was a time when inline editing, the ability to edit a piece of web content without going through an admin screen or a clunky submission form, was a key differentiator between web content management systems. That time is no longer.
Now we find ourselves in the age where content management systems and browser add-ons are friendly parts of the same sentence. Follow along with us as we see where Estonian Web CMS vendor is taking this technology relationship.

Remember that (mainly)
open source Micro CMS designed for
“normal people”? Yes, the simply put
Zimplit! Just in time for stocking staffing, Zimplit released version 1.1 with
four improvements:
- Website Menu Reordering: Users can now drag and drop any page to where they want. This should be helpful when users want to change website navigational items, let’s say.
- Theme Picker: Yes, they’re still doing a themed approach to website design. The benefit: no more downloading and uploading of theme package from Zimplit’s site. Just log in to your website, pick any theme and it will be downloaded instantly. Less clicking is almost always a good idea.
- Gallery Thumbnails: This new functionality allows users to see some media files in a "click and zoom" fashion. On top of that, there’s also the yummy automatic resizing function. While we’re not quite sure about what Zimplit means by “It will make your website smaller and quicker,” digital asset management (in some shape or form) is always a welcome functionality in any Web CMS.
- Editor Location Changer: In “one step,” developers can now make their own editors with their own functionality and change editor skin or add their own.
While still no news on providing a
hosted version of
Zimplit CMS, as
predicted, Zimplit is in the news again, albeit with a small announcement. In its nature, Zimplit CMS is not that far from
blogging platforms, but still is positioning itself as a
Web CMS. Oh well, there must be market for this solution – in Estonia, or elsewhere in Europe.

Touted as the “easiest Web site creation tool ever made,” Zimplit is a new open source Micro CMS released by an Estonian startup under the same name. It was made for “normal people, not for IT gurus.”
And here’s the sales pitch: “Unlike other CMS applications that require advanced technical skills, Zimplit enables you to create professional Web sites, without being a Web developer or hiring one.”
