Ice’s life has often been defined by overcoming adversity. As a child he lost both of his parents and at 17 started living on his own in south-central LA, while the violent and infamous gang culture exploded, and faced being a teen father. In the face of those challenges, Ice-T joined the army, where he learned the power of discipline.
Ice-T is known for becoming a master criminal but it was during this time that a horrific accident led him to debut a new rap musical form and realize a talent for street poetry in the form of gangsta rap. He overcame the record labels who denied his talent and called the genre a fad, to become one of the most well-known rap stars ever.
Time and time again Ice was thrown into adversity. The tune of his life was the repetitive obstacle, opportunity, obstacle, opportunity. His mindset at every juncture brought him success.
