CMSWire Tweet Jam Real-Time Collaboration #DigWorkChat

The market has been flooded with collaboration tools in recent years as businesses continue to look for ways to support the many moving parts of collaboration — chat, document sharing, conference calls and more. But with this proliferation of tools came app overload, the phenomena where employees become so overwhelmed by choices and notifications that they no longer know where to collaborate.

Join us on Twitter on March 28 at 10 am PT / 1pm ET / 1700 GMT for an hour-long conversation as we discuss the ins and outs of real time collaboration. All of the CMSWire community is invited to join in using the #digworkchat hashtag.

The Questions

The following questions will shape our discussion:

  1. Why does the success rate for collaboration fluctuate so much?
  2. How does the increasingly distributed nature of companies impact real-time collaboration?
  3. What steps can organizations take to balance expectations of "always on" with the need for uninterrupted time to focus?
  4. How do you handle things like "Slack creep," where different groups and channels become hard to manage?
  5.  How do you balance the collaboration needs of specific teams with those of the business as a whole?
  6. How do you measure the efficacy of collaboration? What metrics do you watch?
    • Bonus Question: What impact do you think the recent Facebook scandal will have (if any) on the use of internal social tools?

Participation Guidelines

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Introduce yourself with your first #digworkchat tweet. Include your name, job title and organization you work for.
  • Answer question one with A1, question two with A2, etc. — and always include the #digworkchat hashtag. For example, "@bigbird A2 Remote workers are driving the demand for changes and improvements in collaboration tools #digworkchat"
  • Please don't pitch products or services — stay knowledge focused.
  • Keep the discussion professional, but informal.
  • Remember this is a public chat — be thoughtful.
