When Woodwing Software first created their digital magazine tools for the iPad, they had no way of foreseeing how the iPad would capture the hearts and minds of the world.

Digital Magazine Tools 1.4

As it turned out, the iPad has been successful in helping magazines claim space in the digital world. As user become better acquainted with the new device, it’s inevitable that publishers and readers alike will benefit from new features designed to enhance the tablet and eReader experience.

Just four months later after the iPad entered our lives, WoodWing has released an updated version of its Digital Magazine Tools for iPad, supporting both Adobe CS4 and CS5. Version 1.4 provides publishers of many well-known and popular publications from Sports Illustrated, Time and Life magazines, with new features designed to allow them to create iPad Apps that are even more attractive to the reader.

New Functionality for an Evolving Digital Experience

Now publishers can add scrollable elements, assign audio files to pages and add two-finger swipes to transition from page to page. Digital Magazine Tools 1.4 also allows for new design elements for table of contents, the ability to use custom page objects with third parties so they can add their own functionality to the digital magazine code and embeddable web elements.

Learning Opportunities

WoodWing also helps publishers streamline the iPad App creation process by linking the digital magazine tools with its cross media publishing system (Enterprise) and content management application (Content Station).

The popularity of the iPad and competing devices has created an opportunity for publishers to capture a new generation of magazine readers. By employing new functionality, thanks to Digital Magazine Tools from WoodWing, the digital experience can continue to evolve.
