Caribou CMS 2.1 Improves Licensing Model

Caribou CMS 2.1 Improves Licensing Model

Caribou CMS (news, site) is now in v2.1. The main change from the previous release is in regards to the way the CMS vendor is now handling multiple licenses, as well as some new features.

In the past, you couldn’t have users with multiple active subscriptions to the same Caribou CMS package. Meaning that, every time you would want to buy a second license, it would be treated as an extension of the existing subscription and of the license you bought previously. But that is now history. Users now are free to have multiple license subscriptions at US$ 29 per month.

E-xact payment gateway integration is a brand new feature and allows subscribers to add E-xact eCommerce functions to their accounts. Caribou CMS includes a variety of other third-party payment gateway integrations as well, including PayPal.

The changelog shows that several bugs were fixed in 2.1, including:

  • Nullified basket at checkout with "caribou" theme
  • Not so tidy arrays in the e-mailed form results (In the previous release other forms bugs were fixed.)
  • Inability to stop the post-load animation from throwing off your clicks
  • Inability to store link problems in dynamically-generated menus

In addition to that, Caribou CMS now offers 64-bit compatible libraries. If you want to give Caribou CMS a try, a download is available here. Once you do, take a minute to share your thoughts with us.

Caribou CMS Fixes Bugs In Forms Styles

Caribou CMS 2.0.1

It's been a while since we last talked about Caribou CMS (news, site), a niche subscription membership Web CMS player. The news today is a minor point release of Caribou CMS version 2.0.1. (Oh, and check out the new logo!)

The vendor says "it is not urgent," but if you use Caribou CMS, you have probably experienced some issues with forms styles. The latest version fixes those styling bugs in the control panel (or site topic/ blog management) and the menu manager.

There is some manual work that needs to be done on your part: copy over /install/copy/templates/default/css/forms.css to /templates/default/css/forms.css if you are experiencing bugs in the administration panel form layout.

Other fixes include:

  • Login cookies containing a username and password are now stored for 30 days. Previously, only usernames was stored. Upon login, the cookie is extended for another 30 days.
  • Creating, editing and deleting site topics/blogs now updates the content database appropriately, fixing topic links in the menu manager and broken links on the frontend.

For your peace of mind, we do recommend you read upgrading instructions before doing any work. Caribou CMS version 2.0.1 is available for download here.

Caribou Offers a Subscription Membership CMS

Caribou CMS, Canada

Last month Caribou unveiled their Caribou CMS 1.0, a new web-based content management system, specifically designed for full access to the content to be by subscription only. This will clearly be of interest to membership organizations and to webmasters who want to run membership websites where access to the full content is restricted to the paying punter.
