Box announced today the addition of a number of new capabilities to its cloud storage platform, including enhanced admin features and a new service, Box Consulting, to help deploy and scale the Box platform. It also introduced new partnerships with Capgemini and other unnamed systems integrators.

It's been an interesting year for SharePoint. We've started to see steady adoption of SharePoint 2013, as well as continued usage of SharePoint 2010 and some older versions. And Microsoft’s shift to focus on the cloud and Office 365 left many guessing about the future of the on premises version of SharePoint.

Whatever comes in 2014, I don’t believe SharePoint is going anywhere. But I do think we’ll see more changes.

It follows on the heels of its recent announcement that it is releasing industry-specific cloud services that will enable enterprises working in specific verticals move to the cloud quickly and efficiently.

SharePoint Conference 2014 is just a few months away. The Microsoft-sponsored event runs March 3 through 6 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Microsoft is firming up the roster of keynote speakers and setting the agendas for about 200 sessions on the increasingly integrated worlds of SharePoint, Yammer, Office, Office 365 and more.

Marketed as an event to help "connect, reimagine and transform," there will be some 24 inclusive tracks for the four major audiences of IT professionals, developers, executives and power users.
