The enterprise has empowerment issues. First it was their customers; then it was their employees. The consumerization of IT has overwhelmed organizations. For a while it was manageable to deny their technology requests. By now, most companies have come to realize that employees and customers will continue to empower themselves and they can’t exert as much control as they want. To help them best prepare for the empowered road ahead, Forrester has analyzed the highest-impact empowered employee technologies by evaluating their maturity and business value.

The consumerization of IT has really done a number on the enterprise. New research by Forrester indicates the many ways employee-owned devices are challenging how IT manages them. 

This week, mediafeedia introduced a social media management tool exclusively for Facebook and free at least initially, IDC predicts a massive jump in IT spending by SMBs, Kerio releases v7.2 of its collaboration tool and Pardot upgrades its cloud-based marketing automation platform.

While the standard response to the question as to whether SaaS, cloud computing or outsourcing are the best thing for your company is "yes," HP (news, site) has released a suite of software for CIOs that will measure just that and provide in-depth insight into how your IT deployments are actually performing.

The team over at ZyLab (news, site) recently scored themselves a new president and CEO for their U.S. headquarters in McLean.

Pieter Varkevisser will lead the company through their next stage of growth while former president and CEO Johannes Scholtes assumes the roles of Chairman of ZyLAB’s supervisory board and Chief Strategy Officer. 

Varkevisser brings a ton of experience to the table, including what he gained through his four year stint (2004-2008) as CEO of SDL Tridion. 

"ZyLAB has achieved a documented leadership position in the information access technology market with high-profile customers in commercial and government organizations around the world,” said Mr. Varkevisser. "I look forward to building off this solid foundation to continue to grow the company."

As the new Chairman of the supervisory board as well as the Chief Strategy Officer, Scholtes will research new technologies and products for the company as well as help bring those solutions to market.

“For the past 20 years, I have been very hands-on with nearly all facets of our company in my role as President and CEO of ZyLAB,” said Johannes Scholtes. “In that period ZyLAB has grown from a small start-up to an internationally recognized information access technology provider with offices worldwide and more than 100 employees. Pieter’s leadership skills and extensive experience in the software industry make him a great fit to help take ZyLAB to the next level of growth and expansion.”

Czech-based Kentico Software (news, site), who continues to expand despite increasingly difficult trading conditions in Europe, recently made the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 list for central Europe. They are listed as the fifth highest ranked company in the ‘Rising Stars’ category.

According to the UK’s National Management Salary Survey, garnered by the Chartered Management Institute and Remuneration Economics, the number of women resigning from information technology jobs in the UK has increased over the last year.

That’s not the only thing out of proportion. The pay gap between men and women has also widened.
