Two of the most well-known Drupal development firms, SubHub and Phase 2 Technology, have joined forces to develop a new open standard for developing apps for the web content management provider. The goal: to make it easier to build, deploy and use Drupal apps.

CMSWire covered SubHub (news, site) when the cloud-based web content management provider released its initial SubHub Lite Drupal 7 offering back in December, becoming one of the pioneers on the platform. The company, which has offered website building and content publishing since 2005, has now announced a Drupal 7-based Content Monetization Platform (CMP) including a marketplace (App Store) for Drupal 7 (news, site) modules. CMSWire walked through the new offering shortly before it went live with Evan Rudowski, Co-Founder and Director of SubHub.

Visitors to SubHub’s (news, site) site today received a little surprise:  A less than subtle message announcing a new “SubHub!”  with no additional details. What’s coming next? We are not mere mortals and found out.

UK-based SubHub (news, site) has released a new cloud web content management system built on Drupal 7. The company, which specializes in enabling non-technical customers to establish monetized content sites, has offered website building and content publishing since 2005 using a proprietary CMS. The new solution, SubHub Lite, drops the custom CMS in favor of the popular open source CMS platform Drupal.

SubHub (news, site), a membership website platform provider, joined forces with Conduit (site), a provider of free SaaS web publishing platform. The new partnership will give SubHub access to Conduit’s 200,000 web publishers and 60 million users, while Conduit gets a  complete set of SubHub's marketing tools they didn't have before.
