It's no secret that regulatory policies often dictate the way that information can be accessed, shared or otherwise managed. Internationally-based companies face challenges posed by privacy laws, like the U.S. Patriot Act and the EU Data Protection Directive, which prohibits the transportation of electronically stored data from the U.S and Europe.

Kiersted Systems has addressed this issue by launching a mobile service for processing electronic discovery data. Prompted by such challenges, Kiersted's mobile processing capability allows companies to perform eDiscovery wherever clients may be: down the street, across the country or around the globe.

A recent trend among the eDiscovery industry is that more companies are bringing the process of search, discovery and document management in house. Companies that once saw eDiscovery as third-party expense left to off-site experts have now come around and have begun implementing cost-saving solutions that allow them to take control of their eDiscovery needs.

Today, Kazeon Systems (news, site) announces the availability of its fourth generation eDiscovery software for use by corporations, legal service providers and law firms. Kazeon's solution solves a wide range of customer challenge such as in-house eDiscovery, internal investigations, audits, legal hold retention management and GRC.

Recently, we had the opportunity to talk with Karthik Kannan, Kazeon’s VP of Marketing and Business about v4 and the future of eDiscovery.

The folks at Clearwell Systems, whose platform works to streamline the eDiscovery process, have looked into their crystal ball and have offered a few predictions for the new year. Among them, trends that respond to financial and legal stresses as well as a need for more collaboration. The most compelling of their predictions lay within the realm of compliance and technology.

eDiscovery powerhouse CaseCentral has teamed up with CommVault, a provider of high-performance data protection and data storage to deliver an end-to-end eDiscovery solution.  

The goal is to combine the indexing, search and retrieval capabilities of CommVault Simpana Archive and Search software, with CaseCentral’s eDiscovery Review Platform. Together, they will be able to offer a suite of solutions that cover the entire EDRM model.

Now, Kazeon has announced the launch of KazForensics, a comprehensive set of forensics capabilities that creates new standards for complete authenticity of data and meta-data, as well as maximum defensibility of the eDiscovery process.
