AvePoint, a provider that aims to protect and serve SharePoint, has released the newest version of its flagship management software platform. Via a redesigned, ribbon-based UI, the fully-integrated DocAve 6 extends the platform's capabilities in order to better unify the management of on-premise, cloud, and hybrid SharePoint farms. 

AvePoint (news, site) announced its DocAve Storage Optimization Suite late last year to help manage unruly SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010 environments. Now it says it will offer a tool from that suite -- the DocAve Extender -- for free.
