With every new edition of SharePoint there’s a lot of new apps around that are key to getting the best of out it. This week AvePoint has a new meetings app to bring order to the content around meetings, Metalogix is offering a new way of assessing SharePoint storage, SharePoint Solutions automates site creation, and PartnerPulse monitors Microsoft partners.

Office 365 and the release of three new business SKUs dominated this week in document management news, with the ripples of the release being felt with complementary solutions launched by MetaVis and KnowledgeLake. In other news, Metalogix announced some new developments around StoragePoint, Office 2013 got a new touchscreen guide and Version One rebranded.

Metalogix has announced a big change to one of its core offerings as its Migration Manager tool is now called Content Matrix. Is it a marketing move with just a cool new name or will it offer the easy to use features so many people need in a SharePoint environment?

While Metalogix has made a name for itself already with migration and lifecycle products for SharePoint, it doesn’t appear to be happy at the speed at which migration takes place. The result is the integration of Migration Manager for SharePoint -- File Share Edition, with its file share solution StoragePoint.

AvePoint, a provider of governance and infrastructure management solutions for Microsoft SharePoint, is making its new DocAve File Share Navigator solution generally available. The application enables access to and retrieval of file share content through SharePoint lists without migration.

Metalogix Software has released a solution that makes it faster and more efficient to manage content in Microsoft SharePoint 2010. The new solution, Content Manager, enhances SharePoint with the ability to make bulk edits to metadata and a ribbon that makes it easier for users to have access to advanced features such as taxonomy.

Metalogix said it will purchase Syntergy and integrate its suite of products, including its popular Replicator web platform, into Metalogix' SharePoint content life cycle management solutions portfolio. Syntergy will continue to operate "independently," keeping its Open Text /LiveLink business but Replicator for SharePoint will become part of Metalogix.

If you thought all the SharePoint 2010 migration options had been exhausted at this point, think again. It has just found something else to migrate into SharePoint, this time in the shape of the migration of Exchange public folders.

With a promise of radical gains in migration speeds, Metalogix Software announced its Migration Manager for SharePoint v.5.0 with full support for Nintex Workflow. Its approach reduces site migration and upgrades from days to just minutes by leveraging sophisticated multithreading techniques, that claim up to 1000% increase in SharePoint migration and upgrade speed.

It's SharePoint time again as this year’s conference kicks off in Anheim, Calif., for four days of demonstrations and releases. With a more than a year gone since the release of SharePoint 2010, there are now dozens of releases of products to the market, and many more as this conference will show.

Looks like vacations in document-management land are coming to an end.
