Open source enterprise content management (ECM) platform provider Nuxeo announced that it is opening a US headquarters in New York to complement its existing US offices in Boston and San Francisco (Silicon Valley).

With 2011 drawing to a close, we look at what we thought were some of the document management highlights of the year. There were also a couple of companies still busy like Nuxeo, which released v5.5, DocuLex, which released a dedicated solution for the real estate vertical, and CaseCentral which offered self-service e-Discovery. Advance RP also upgraded its storage.

The end of another year in document management, and what a year it was. There really was something for everyone from SharePoint, to HP and Autonomy, from open source to enterprise CMS. Nuxeo has announced a new release of its open source enterprise CMS platform. The most recent version, 5.5, is a significant enhancement to the platform. Nuxeo continues to show its commitment to abandoning the traditional application-oriented approach to enterprise CMS in favor of providing a feature-rich platform for building content-centric applications. Version 5.5 adds social features, mobile enhancements and a number of technical enhancements that improve developer productivity.

In a move to expand beyond its eZ Publish web CMS roots, California-based Granite Horizon announced a new partnership with Nuxeo, the open source document management platform. Nuxeo’s advance workflow management enables automation of business processes using their graphical design environment, and when combined with Granite Horizon’s strengths in web CMS, should serve customers well.

Open source enterprise CMS provider Nuxeo announced a new integration with TEMIS. TEMIS’ semantic content enrichment tool Luxid can now be used to enrich content stored in Nuxeo with domain-specific metadata. No, I didn’t just type a bunch of techno buzzwords. Well, I did, but I promise this is cool.

Busy week again in the document management space. This time Fujitsu takes the limelight with its new scanning to iPhone and iPad functionality not to mention Chatter and Google Docs, Nuxeo previewed v5.5, while EntropySoft upgraded Content Hub. Perceptive and AssureSign have also signed a partnership agreement.
