Open source enterprise content management system (enterprise CMS) platform provider Nuxeo has announced impressive new information about its growth in 2011. The company doubled both its revenue and customer base in the North American market, perhaps signaling a shift in market demand for more platform-centric solutions.

According to Forrester Research, the U.S. information management sector sees 66% of all projects fail, largely as a result of poorly defined processes and communications. The bottom line is that many of the observed project failings look preventable.

This pattern seems to be even more extreme when it comes to Enterprise CMS projects...but why?

Open source enterprise content management (ECM) platform provider Nuxeo announced that it is opening a US headquarters in New York to complement its existing US offices in Boston and San Francisco (Silicon Valley).

Normally in this space we look back over the current month and forward into the next month, keeping you up to date with the open source CMS and other related projects that might interest you. Like last year, we're taking a look back at 2011 and into 2012 for some extra insights into what's to come.

With 2011 drawing to a close, we look at what we thought were some of the document management highlights of the year. There were also a couple of companies still busy like Nuxeo, which released v5.5, DocuLex, which released a dedicated solution for the real estate vertical, and CaseCentral which offered self-service e-Discovery. Advance RP also upgraded its storage.

The end of another year in document management, and what a year it was. There really was something for everyone from SharePoint, to HP and Autonomy, from open source to enterprise CMS. Here are some of what we think are the highlights of the year. Undoubtedly you’ll have others, so let us know and maybe we can get a second list up and running in the New Year.
