Just like that certain city that never sleeps, Bitrix hardly takes a break. Shortly after the recent release of a new version of its Site Manager, Bitrix is in the news again. This time, the CMS vendor announces the addition of Media Player to its WCM platform, which will enable customers to embed video and audio streams into their web sites.

Video has quickly become one of the fastest growing media formats on the Internet, and that seems like a logical thing to occur. It makes sense that a company would attempt to integrate an interactive video solution into WordPress and Kaltura is the first solution that we’ve seen to address this. It is a decent try, but it is far from perfect.

Traditionally reserved for awarding the best in television advertising, the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival awarded a Grand Prix for a viral online video, as well, as a cyber campaign. And a groundbreaking Japanese online effort for a clothing retailer won the most coveted creative prize of all, the Titanium Grand Prix.
What has happened to television advertising? It’s gone online and become interactive, that’s what.

Open source firm Editopia has just announced the release of NCode.
This is a server-side video encoding offering. Web developers can add video, in any format, to Flash. Under the General Public License, it costs zip zero.
NCode is cross-platform friendly and supports multiple codecs, including H.264, and PHP and Java programming environments.
Editopia may soon release an enterprise edition with support, as well as indemnification and rights for fee-based codecs.

CYA is clearly into long-term sustainability. Having brought records management integrity to IBM’s FileNet, then addressed Smart Recovery for EMC, the company is now tackling recycle bin solutions for the enterprise.
CYA Recycle Bin is a hosted self-restore solution for enterprise CMS users. Its intention is to guard against information loss at the user, administrative and system levels sans system or application downtime.
In short, the Recycle Bin enables you to restore accidental deletions of documents or folders you shouldn’t be getting rid of. It also renders users independent of admins, who typically need to approve information restoration — generally the last thing on their minds.
