Adriel Hampton is chief organizer for NationBuilder, a software-as-a-service offering for organizations, co-founder and producer of the Gov 2.0 Radio podcast, and president of the San Francisco Technology Democrats. He is a professional speaker and advises governments, politicians, NGOs and businesses on social media and technology innovation. He is also an organizer for various civic tech events. Adriel has spoken on Gov 2.0, social media for government, podcasting, the future of governance, innovation, and blogging at Webzine, the National Association of Government Web Managers National Conference, Craigslist Foundation Boot Camp, Gov 2.0 Kuala Lumpur, and at pro bono “Citizen 2.0” events. He has used his social media expertise to help preserve parkland in California, and to promote open government principles through prominent Twitter accounts @govwiki and @citizensuite and a Citizen 2.0 page on Facebook. From 2005 to 2011, Adriel worked as an investigator for the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office. He brought the office into the Web 2.0 world in early 2009, launching the @SFCityAttorney Twitter account and growing it to more than 5,500 followers. Adriel also launched the City Attorney’s official Flickr account. He continues to advice City Attorney Dennis Herrera on social media and technological innovation. Adriel is also an advisor for LegiNation, a startup focused on access and interaction with state legislative data.
