Nicastro studied journalism at Salem State College, where he was sports editor and editor of the college newspaper and a member of the 1999 league championship baseball team who broke the single season record for doubles (15) and was among the league leaders in RBI.

He lives in Manchester, NH, with his wife, Pamela, and son, Matthew, and enjoys New England sports, outdoor adventures walking and playing with his dog, Mackie, and broadcasting.
