Saleor Commerce, a leading entity in the composable commerce space, has finalized an $8 million seed extension funding round. This round was spearheaded by Target Global, known for their investments in Revolut and Auto1, along with the e-commerce behemoth Zalando. Contributions also came from Kevin Mahaffey's SNR fund and Cherry Ventures, who have supported companies like Moss and Spryker, as well as TQ Ventures, which has stakes in Groove and Current.

Established in Poland in 2020 by founders Mirek Mencel and Patryk Zawadzki, Saleor is an open-source e-commerce platform designed to simplify the intricacies of operating in multiple markets. The platform is known for its headless, composable architecture. Following a successful $2.5 million seed funding in 2021 aimed at developing its Software as a Service (SaaS) cloud solution, Saleor has been embraced by prominent brands such as Lush and Breitling.

Saleor plans to allocate the recently acquired funding towards accelerating its expansion, enlarging its agency program, and enhancing its flagship product. Zalando, a leader in e-commerce platforms in Europe for fashion and lifestyle, decided to invest due to Saleor's proven success with international brands. Additionally, they are eager to investigate collaborative opportunities, motivated by a mutual ambition for scalable multimarket commerce characterized by a fundamental suite of commerce functionalities that can be scaled through microservices.

Saleor CEO Mirek Mencel said in a blog post, "We’re thrilled to welcome Target Global and Zalando to the Saleor team. With the new capital, we’ll further establish Saleor as the most composable, multimarket-ready platform available while keeping the dev community at the heart of what we do. We’ll help developers deliver business value for their companies more quickly and reliably than ever."

Lina Chong, Partner at Target Global, shared in the same post, “We're deeply committed to backing innovative ventures. Saleor's thriving open-source community, robust SaaS offering, and forward-thinking vision harmonize seamlessly with our thesis on global commerce businesses.”

"With ZEOS, we want to offer brands and retailers a holistic solution for their multi-channel sales. The brands’ own online stores play an important role in this. Here we see a great fit with Saleor's vision, offering and expertise, which can also help us to further expand our capabilities, for example, in exposing our convenient delivery options to the Saleor checkout,” said Jan Bartels, SVP B2B at Zalando, in a blog post on Saleor's website.
