During his 23-year career as a software engineer, 21 years of which have focused on working with all of the leading content management systems, Emmanuel Tissera has worked client-side with organisations including Emirates in Dubai, and the Australian Associated Press. As Senior Developer, then Technical Director at Luminary, he built websites for leading Australian brands including Snooze, Metricon, and Melbourne Airport, and led discovery projects for New South Wales Government, UNICEF, and The Salvation Army. Emmanuel has also delivered solutions architecture for Schneider Electric, NGS, and Netwealth.

Emmanuel Tissera is a highly-regarded contributor to the open-source community who organises regular meetups with fellow Umbraco developers across the APAC region. He has been awarded Umbraco MVP status six years in a row.

I’m genuinely excited about taking on this new role, which is the culmination of fifteen years working with the Umbraco CMS on both the client and agency side,” commented Tissera. “My Umbraco expertise helped me to land my first web developer role in Australia, and I’ve been organising developer meetups for the past eight years. The opening of the Melbourne office demonstrates Umbraco HQ’s commitment to APAC. I’m proud to be leading and growing the team to provide boots on the ground for Umbraco partners, enterprise customers, and the wider Umbraco community in Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia-Pacific region.”

Over the past twenty years, the Umbraco CMS has attracted a highly-engaged community of more than 250,000 open-source contributors and an international network of digital agency partners. The open-source CMS is backed by the Umbraco commercial organisation, which ensures that the platform remains supported, updated, and resilient.

A growing number of the APAC partners are building highly scalable digital experiences on the Umbraco CMS platform for organisations including Zoos Victoria, which serves 2.25 million visitors a year; global humanitarian aid provider, Australia for UNHCR; and national circular economy organisation, ReMade in Australia.

To provide partners with enterprise-level support with RFPs, technical demonstrations, and proofs of concept, Umbraco made the decision to open an office in Melbourne central business district.

Welcoming Emmanuel Tissera’s appointment, Umbraco CEO, Mats Persson, said, “We are thrilled to have someone with Emmanuel’s depth of technical expertise, business acumen, community involvement, and interpersonal skills to lead, grow, and strengthen the Umbraco APAC team.
