In a move rumored to be worth between $25 and 30 mil, Verisign has announced the acquisition of London-based Moreover Technologies. This follows closely on the heels of Verisign's $2.3 mil acquisition of Dave Weiner's weblogs.com and the related ping server. Moreover, founded in 1998 by Nick Denton, David Galbraith, and Angus Bankes, provides commercial news and blog aggregation and search services and was an early RSS pioneer. Rafat Ali at paidcontent.org has two pieces covering Verisign's move, suggesting that the Moreover buy was motivated by the need for rich ping parsing and of course content aggregation. Michael Graves of Verisign has also made some interesting "rich ping" comments recently.
