Symon has advised medium and enterprise organizations in the UK and Europe on their internal digital workplace strategies for over 10 years. He has led knowledge management, collaboration, intranet, enterprise social, and big data and analytics projects for clients across all sectors but have a particular focus on financial services. He has have developed a Digital Workplace Assessment & Planning Framework which enables organizations to take a holistic perspective on the workplace by aligning approaches to people, technology, location and the physical workspace.

Since 2012, Symon have been conducting doctoral research through Henley Business School. His qualitative research is concerned with understanding how digital technologies make a difference to the ways in which people organize and get work done. The pilot study drew on experiences of knowledge workers inside a global technology organization during the deployment of an enterprise social network. In his consulting work, Symon conducts qualitative research inside organizations to help executive and management teams understand how technology, culture and the physical workplace combine to affect working practices & drive strategic outcomes.
