Scalix, a Linux-based solutions purveyor, and ECM firm Sirius Corp have inked an agreement to develop and execute an open source groupware solution for European companies.Per the terms of the relationship, Scalix will incorporate its email and calendaring offering into the Sirius Enterprise Stack. Sirius, an IT services group based in the UK, specializes in enterprise-ready open source software. The inclusion of email and calendaring into the Sirius solution will play nicely with Microsoft Outlook without forcing clients to face the Microsoft Exchange licensing fee. The partnership will allegedly "fill the gap in the complete open source stack," according to CEO Mark Taylor of Sirius. The companies hope this relationship will serve as a foundation for similar open source-based deployments. The integration will be completed in Q3 of 2007.
