Juan Mateu is the founder of Inlytips, a Madrid-based venture helping organizations move past “having a bot” toward a genuinely predictive, mindset-aware customer strategy. With over 20 years of experience spanning CPaaS, customer data platforms (CDP) and AI for customer experience, his work has consistently anticipated where the conversational economy was heading, usually a few years ahead of the market.

He founded and led Solaiemes (2006–2014) as CEO, building the world’s first GSMA-certified RCS API Gateway and pioneering brand-to-user chatbot infrastructure on mobile networks years before the WhatsApp Business API existed. He also pioneered a WebRTC-telco gateway, bringing PSTN and mobile calling directly into the browser. The company won the GSMA RCS DevChallenge Innovation award before its acquisition by Comverse (now Mavenir) in 2014, where Mateu served as Engineering Director.

In 2017 he co-founded Whenwhyhow, serving as CEO and CPO until 2023. The company built a bootstrapped “Mindset Profiling” CDP, integrating contextual and behavioral data in real time long before CDP became a standard category, and was named a 2020 Gartner Cool Vendor in CRM & Customer Service Technology.

Since 2023, Mateu has worked as an independent CPO and CPaaS/CDP strategy consultant for clients spanning fintech, e-commerce analytics and innovation consulting, before launching Inlytips in May 2026. The new venture builds on the same thesis: that most AI investment in CX captures the “What” of customer behavior but misses the causal “When, Why and How” behind it. He is also a strategic advisor to founders and innovation teams working through similar build-or-buy decisions in CX and messaging infrastructure.

He has lectured on entrepreneurship and innovation at EOI, one of Spain’s leading business schools, and has written on the Solaiemes and Whenwhyhow blogs about messaging, CDPs and customer mindset.

Mateu holds an MSc in Telecommunications Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de València and is currently completing a master’s in philosophy, where his research interests include how concepts of agency and authenticity hold up inside AI-mediated organizations. He remains, after two decades, mostly unconvinced that “personalization” and “knowing the customer” are the same thing.
