Since the iPad release, many new apps have made their way onto the market, some useful, others in the novelty category of apps we could do without. However, the newly released iPad app from TeamViewer (newssite) falls into the' very useful' category for businesses and private users as it gives them the ability to control remote PC’s from the iPad.

To be accurate, there is, in fact, one app with two versions -- both with specific target audiences: TeamViewer HD and TeamViewer Pro HD.

First thing to say about this is that it is free for non-commercial use. The second thing is that itcan give users full access to every computer application that is installed on a home or enterprise PC.

One App, Two Versions

As an added feature for mobile workers in particular, the TeamViewer HD iPad gives users complete control over an identified computer when that computer is left unattended.

The other version, TeamViewer Pro HD, is designed for IT support for aone time fee and offers IT support teams the possibility of accessingcomputers that are linked in a particular network.

Users in this case can access any workstation from their iPad and regulate any of the problems or issues remotely. With multiplatform support it means that the Mac, Windows or Linux operating systems can be accessed and manipulated.

Learning Opportunities

With TeamViewer users are giving full PC screen control as well as the ability to remotely reboot, disable remote input, as well as other settings that can enhance connectivity.

Users can also create partner lists, store contact information of computers and computers visited as well as contact information for servers that can also be accessed remotely.

TeamViewer Partner List

Protected by unique passwords and IDs once the app has been downloaded from the TeamViewer site each remote computer can be given an ID that will enable users to connect directly once they have logged in. Recent connection lists are also available, making recall and reconnection fast and easy.

All TeamViewer connections are encrypted with AES 256 bit encoding and can work behind firewalls so that computers or networks don’t have to be reconfigured. Working in one direction only, iPad users can access and control PCs, but PC users cannot contact iPad using this application.
