logo-joomla-2009.png You can do seemingly almost anything from an iPhone, including Manage your Joomla! (news, site) based websites.

After a couple weeks of serious nail biting, the team behind J Admin Mobile-- an iPhone app for remote management of any Joomla! 1.5 powered website--is happy to announce that Apple has approved the1.4.0 release.

We Be JAM-in'

JAM! was initially released in April of this year by Covert Apps. The native iPhone application allow users to manage several of the core Joomla! 1.5 features from their iPhone. All that's required is a Joomla! plugin from CMS Market in order to enable the remote administration on a Joomla! site.

The application comes in two different flavors, JAM and JAM Lite. Both versions allow users to view, create and edit entries, but the regular JAM allows users to manage sections, categories and users, among other things.

Check out a demo video here.

The Covert Apps team announced that they were working on the newest version of JAM! just a little over a week after they released 1.3.0. The up to date iteration includes improvements such as:

  • Adding users
  • Inserting images into articles
  • Ability to change the user type (Registered, Author, etc)
  • Persist tab bar icon positions when restarting the app
  • Add published icon to Menu Item tables
  • Setting to turn on/off Posted by JAM text [FULL version only]

They also fixed some buggy things including a previously funky "Edit" button, memory issues, and the transition into landscape mode which was a little rough around the edges in the last release.

Wojmamni Ama Naiki

Joomla! released version 1.5.13 in late July, but an overlooked security issue caused them to toss their every 6 to 8 weeks policy to the wind and kick out 1.5.14 a mere 8 days later. That has remained the most recent stable build since.

Joomla! 1.6 has been available as a pre-release since some time in July as well, and features we're excited about include an improved menu changer, a new JForm library package and a new extension updator.

As far as JAM! goes though, all you need is a 1.5 build which you can get here. Then grab the app and let us know what you think.
