OpenText's VP of Product Marketing, Lubor Ptacek, joined us at theEnterprise 2.0 Conference in Boston to discuss the evolution of social media in the enterprise and how OpenText (news, site) has mapped their platforms to it.

The Evolution of Customer/Employee Engagement

Ptacek told us that Enterprise 2.0 is no longer about simply offering social media capabilities, it now takes into consideration integration of these tools on the website (internal or external), rich media and integration with Digital Asset Management systems, personalization and mobile access.

Trends in Mobile

Speaking of mobile access, a popular topic at the conference this week, Ptacek said that many organizations believe that mobile apps are the way to go. But this can be both costly and a lot of work considering the number of different platforms and devices available.

Learning Opportunities

OpenText, instead, developed its own mobile enterprise application platform that will enable organizations to build their app once and deploy it anywhere.
