Nixon has more than 25 years experience in sales, marketing and revenue. She was senior vice president and general management of OpenText's business process management unit and also spent several years in leadership positions at business process management (BPM) vendor Metastorm before its acquisition by OpenText.
She most recently worked at SDL as president of Customer Experience Solutions.
Alfresco CEO and President Doug Dennerline told CMSWire the company has been trying to fill the position for a while now. “When we met Bernadette, it was evident her experience in both ECM and BPM were an ideal fit,” he said.
Alfresco has a substantial business with its Activti BPM platform, which it is pulling closer and closer to its flagship ECM platform. Last May, it released new modules for analytics and media management and upgraded BPM capabilities to pull the two together.
At the time Paul Hampton, product marketing director at Alfresco, told CMSWire the idea was to have the two units operate together under the joint banner of “simple, smart and secure.”
2016 Targets
Nixon has already been handed some ambitious targets.
Learning Opportunities
“We finish our fiscal year at the end of February, so Bernadette’s goals are to set the growth plan for fiscal year 2017 from a go-to-market perspective,” Dennerline said.
“We are continuing to invest in our sales force around the world in order to ensure we are hitting our aggressive growth objectives. Given that our revenue is equally split between Europe and North America her experience across these markets is an advantage — she understands the unique needs of customers at a regional level.”
Over the coming year, tighter cohesion between BPM and ECM will be a key business strategy for Alfresco, which is focused on establishing its ECM and BPM platforms as an integrated offering. "We can cut the time to value for our customers down dramatically compared to any other competitor,” Dennerline said.
In practical terms this means building and managing Alfresco’s global sales team to bring Alfresco’s content management, information governance, processes and collaboration products to a wider market.
Nixon will also oversee Alfresco’s partner program, and will collaborate with the Chief Marketing Officer on the company’s go-to-market strategy.
