At the National Association of Broadcasters Show, Adobe is demonstrating Adobe Create Suite 6 Production Premium, including Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and Adobe After Effects CS6 updates.

What's New?

A post on the Adobe blog explains:

Premiere Pro CS6 comes just 12 months after our last big update (CS5.5), but this is a massive release, and the entire team is extremely proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish. We’ve already built a very powerful system under-the-hood with the (Freddie) Mercury Playback Engine (which has been further improved in this release) and so this time we wanted to focus on the overall editing experience – on how it feels to spend real time with Premiere Pro in those long creative edit sessions."

Creative Suite 6 Production Premium video editing software boasts an updated interface. The latest release includes more than 50 of the top user-requested improvements, such as customizable Project panel views, transport controls, an Audio Meter panel and track headers, and can play clips directly in the Media Browser. Video demos of improvements are posted on the Adobe site.

Adobe says that After Effects CS6 is the biggest release in a decade, with performance gains and 3D features. The new Adobe Mercury Graphics Engine provides faster performance with large files. Adobe Mercury Playback Engine now supports OpenCL-based AMD GPUs on certain MacBook Pro computers and NVIDIA Maximus dual GPU configurations.

Workflow and Editing Improvements

Adobe CS6 Product Premium components are now more tightly integrated, which makes it easier to move assets between Premiere Pro, After Effects CS6, Photoshop CS6 Extended, Illustrator CS6 and Audition CS6.

Learning Opportunities

Video editing improvements include new trimming modes, a revamped three-way color corrector, expanded multi-cam support, improved audio control and uninterrupted playback. Warp Stabilizer helps users stabilize shaky video.

The redesigned Audio Mixer in Premier Pro CS6 can be resized and automatically switches from vertical to horizontal orientation when its horizontal dimensions are increased. It also includes new functionality from the multichannel mixer in Adobe Audition, and the mixer includes separate decibel-level scales for meters and faders.

The CS6 Production Premium release is planned for some time in the first half of 2012.
