PaperThin CommonSpot 6.0: New UI, Community Features

It’s been almost three years since last major release of ColdFusion-based CommonSpot Web CMS from PaperThin (news, site). This week, a new release has finally arrived.

CommonSpot 6.0 features refreshed UI, new community site, online marketing capabilities and an open source development framework.

CommonSpot 6.0 Features

CommonSpot Web CMS user interface has been refreshed in an attempt to please end users with such functionalities as customizable personal dashboard, My Content views, saved searches, saved shortcuts, favorites, advanced search, in-context info panes, WYSIWYG pasting, and drag and drop.

The new release – following the many that gone the same route – also offers some online marketing tools. The following capabilities are now available: brand management, campaign optimization and community-building.

Another new feature is an open source Application Development Framework (ADF) and some APIs to charm away developers.

A suite of free apps is available on the new community site and includes Article Editing, Blog, Calendar, Content Import, Facebook, Forum, Multimedia, Photo Gallery, Portal, Profile, and Navigation.

The new community site is called ‘The Commons’ and is intended for customers and partners to allow them to collaborate and share knowledge, expertise and open source code developed by PaperThin and its community. Who said community was less important than the CMS?
