Multimodal AI feature auto-generates keywords and attributes for product catalogs at scale.

The Gist

  • AI-powered enrichment. Lucidworks auto-enriches product data using multimodal generative AI.
  • Improved search accuracy. Solution generates better keywords and attributes at scale.
  • Retailer business impact. Ecommerce leaders see higher conversion and revenue from improved data quality.

Lucidworks wants better product data — not flashier AI — to drive ecommerce search performance.

The company on Jan. 20 announced Lucidworks Data Enrichment, a new feature that uses multimodal generative AI to automatically enrich product data for ecommerce applications. The capability analyzes product images and existing text to generate disambiguated categories, keywords, synonyms and richer descriptions at scale.

Company officials said up to 30% of searches fail due to missing attributes, weak keywords or ambiguous categories. The new feature addresses this by leveraging multimodal large language models (LLMs) that understand both visual and semantic context. The enriched output operates as an offline process and integrates natively with Lucidworks Neural Hybrid Search and Commerce Studio.

Lucidworks cited client results including 3x more searchable data, an 8.66% lift in conversion rate and more than $25 million in annualized revenue impact for one global retailer. The feature is available immediately for existing customers.

Recognizing Customer Search Habits

By using multimodal AI to turn images and context into searchable intelligence, Data Enrichment fixes one of the most common and costly problems we see: catalogs that don't reflect how customers actually search.

Lucidworks Recent Activity

Lucidworks' September 2025 Generative AI Benchmark Report found that companies focusing on basic data capabilities achieve significantly stronger business outcomes than those prioritizing advanced AI features alone. In December 2025, the company launched Dynamic Index, delivering instant, personalized pricing, inventory and entitlement data for B2B commerce without requiring reindexing.

The company expanded its platform throughout 2025 with Commerce Studio and Analytics Studio in February, AI App Studio for no-code AI agent development in June and Dynamic Index for real-time commerce data updates in December.

Lucidworks received industry recognition in 2025, winning "Enterprise AI Search Solution of the Year" in July and being named a Leader by IDC in two MarketScape evaluations in December.

Multimodal AI for Product Data Enrichment

Enterprises are deploying multimodal generative AI to transform product discovery and ecommerce performance. AI-driven search platforms now process text, images and video simultaneously, allowing customers to upload photos alongside written queries and receive enriched, context-aware responses.

Early adopters are already seeing performance gains, with metrics favoring retailers that embrace generative AI for both customer and employee productivity.

AI-powered search delivers precise product recommendations even from vague queries, creating a largely frictionless customer journeys. This capability is reshaping how brands approach customer experience across digital channels.

Industry experts emphasize that AI innovation depends on data quality. Even advanced AI systems struggle when content bases are outdated, inconsistent or incomplete. The conversational AI market is accelerating toward $50 billion, with platforms blending automation and intelligence across multiple touchpoints.
