Tweet Jam: Employee-Driven Design: Creating the Digital Workplace #digworkchat

Without adoption, your digital workplace will go nowhere fast. Involving employee feedback and preferences every step of the way, from creation, to implementation, to introduction of new tools, increases the likelihood that you are creating a workplace that will be used by all. 

Join us, during an hour-long Tweet Jam as we discuss how to keep digital workplace designs focused on the employee experience. The Tweet Jam will take place March 27 at 10am PDT/ 1pm EDT/ 1700 UTC. Everyone is invited to join in using the #digworkchat hashtag. We'll be posting the questions that will drive the conversation below on the day before the jam.

The Questions

The following questions will guide our conversation, but inevitably others come up during the conversation:

  1. What role does digital workplace technology play in employee experience?
  2. How can design thinking expose opportunities to improve the employee experience?
  3. What are some common signs your digital workplace tools aren't meeting employee needs?
  4. Every business tool can't be as straightforward to use as, for example, Slack. What can businesses do to make complicated tools more intuitive/user-friendly?
  5. What are the potential pitfalls of providing employees with ample choice of tools and how can organizations counteract them?
  6. When discussing the rollout of new tools, the conversation often turns to adoption efforts and changing behavior. Is this the right way to approach a tool rollout? Why or why not? 
  7. With new tools emerging on the market at a brisk pace, how can organizations prioritize investments in new areas of technology, while keeping employees in mind?

Participation Guidelines

A few things to keep in mind: 

  • Introduce yourself with your first #digworkchat tweet. Include your name, job title and organization you work for.
  • Answer question one with A1, question two with A2, etc. — and always include the #digworkchat hashtag. For example, "@bigbird A2 When you figuratively walk in your employee's shoes for a day, you'll have a lot more clarity what their needs are and aren't #digworkchat" 
  • Please don't pitch products or services — stay knowledge focused.
  • Keep the discussion professional, but informal.  
  • Remember this is a public chat — be thoughtful.
