Picturepark Connects DAM Solution to SharePoint
Picturepark now offers a digital asset management layer for Microsoft SharePoint, called SharePoint Connector for Picturepark. The new layer lets users manage Picturepark approval workflow, security and asset processing functions from within SharePoint.
DAM Revival
Forrester Research researcher Anjali Yakkundi offers her thoughts on her company's recent report on the DAM market. "Despite this increased interest, many CXM players -- such as IBM, Oracle, and SDL -- do not own best-of-breed DAM solutions," Yakkundi explains. "And even the CXM stack vendors that do own DAM solutions (Adobe, Autonomy, OpenText) are still developing a comprehensive DAM for CXM strategy to move beyond traditional DAM use cases." Yakkundi says that as interest in DAM for CXM grows, researchers expect the major CXM vendors to start acquiring or forming alliances with smaller DAM players.
Getting Started With DAM
Dawn Bassett writes an excellent primer on how to get started with DAM. "There is a wealth of information available to information professionals who are working on digital asset management projects; much of it written by librarians and archivists in digital or virtual libraries," Bassett explains. "Not much has been written about how information professionals in special libraries might be able to manage this really very large and resource consuming responsibility while continuing to manage everything else they need to do at the same time.The purpose of this article is to boil this large amount of information down to some simple tips and provide some resources that might help you get started should you find yourself a DAM coordinator."
