According to a recent IDC report Enterprise CMS vendor EMC (acquirer of Documentum) now holds the largest share of the Content Management market."The content management software market — including document management, capture and image management, Web content management, digital asset management, and records management — grew 9.6% in 2005," said Melissa Webster, program director, Content Technologies and Digital Media at IDC. "Growth in the content management market is being driven by the need to better manage and leverage content as well as the need to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage risk." Excluding the impact of Captiva, EMC's content management software license revenues grew 30% in the second quarter of 2006. The IDC report entitled "Worldwide Content Management Software 2005 Vendor Shares" includes coverage of EMC, FileNet, IBM, Open Text, Microsoft, Hummingbird, Stellent, Interwoven and Vignette. It may be purchased directly from the IDC website.
