IBM Beefs Up WebSphere Portal With Content Management

<CMSWire> IBM makes yet another announcement about their new WCM/ECM capabilities. This one doesn't have much in the way of teeth, but highlights the fact that the Lotus Workplace solutions are not to be considered distinct from the IBM WebSpere line. The Portal is very much positioned as IBM's front door to the Lotus Worplace stack of products. </CMSWire> IBM announced Tuesday a new version of WebSphere Portal that adds content management and integration capabilities as well as new productivity tools. WebSphere Portal 5.0.2 includes some Lotus Workplace Web Content Management, allowing customers to create, publish, manage and archive Web-based content within corporate intranet, extranet or Internet environments, IBM officials said. Also new in this release is the WebSphere Portal Application Integrator tool, which extends customers' ability to access enterprise applications such as Oracle Corp.'s HR, finance and manufacturing applications. IBM also added in this release capabilities to import and export Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word files, as well as IBM Lotus 1-2-3 and Lotus Freelance files Read. Read about Portal v5.
