Oracle and Open Text announce that Open Text, a leader in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) space, will offer content management solutions on the Oracle Content Database. The decision extends Open Text's recently launched enterprise solutions framework."This announcement is a realization of our long-held belief that basic, enterprise-wide content management capabilities would become the domain of infrastructure providers like Oracle, while more complex, industry-specific content management would be delivered by ECM vendors, such as Open Text, ” says Connie Moore, vice president and research director of Forrester’s Information Delivery research group. "Open Text has been using Oracle Database technology for more than a decade to deliver ECM solutions,” said Ron Vangell, vice president and general manager of Open Text's Oracle Solutions Group. “Now, we are extending this partnership to include Oracle's world-class Content Database information management infrastructure in our next generation ECM architecture." Announced this month, the Oracle Content Database, an option for the Oracle Database Enterprise Edition, builds on existing Oracle Database technologies and offers file and data storage with Oracle Drive, automated content policies defined on a folder level basis, web services interfaces, business process automation with the Oracle BPEL process manager, and records management with the Oracle Records DB.
