The majority of publishers continue to rely on paper-based workflow processes, according to results of an independent survey conducted for Thomas Technology Solutions, Inc. (ThomasTech), a Horsham, Pa.-based software and systems integrator. The "Survey of Content Management Issues and Trends in the Publishing Industry" was conducted jointly by Amplitude Research, a private survey organization, and Altarum, a nonprofit research institution. The workflow systems of 63 percent of surveyed publishers consist of sending e-mail attachments of editorial content, and 29 percent of publishers use "paper-based management" of their content most or all of the time, and 52 percent some of the time.
