SixApart to Acquire Live Journal

Rumor has it that SixApart, the makers of popular blog tool Movable Type and owners of hosted blog service Type Pad, will be acquiring Portland based Live Journal sometime before the clock strikes February. Assuming the deal proceeds, Six Apart will be one of the largest weblog companies in the world, with nearly 6.5 million users. Live Journal currently has about 5.5 million users.
