Microsoft Abandons Discover Due to Customer Opinion

From CXOtoday Due to customer feedback, Mircosoft has shelved Discovery, its planned server suite, specifically designed to bond content management, e-commerce and EAI capabilities. According to the company, the move was in response to wide-spread user opinion, which revealed that while customers preferred simple licensing and easy-to-buy software, they were far from interested in actually buying a software suite. Apparently Discovery's baseline capabilities will now be utilized into the next-generation Windows operating system, or Longhorn, while others will surface in highly interoperable server successors to the present lineup. ... The company also intends to align the road map between Content Management Server (CMS) and SharePoint Portal Server.
