Sling That Slogan!
We spoke with Rich Davis, founder of Slogan Slingers, to learn more about his crowdsourcing platform. Slogan Slingers launched nearly a week ago, after spending some time in beta. The goal of the site is to provide an opportunity for users to expand their reach when it comes to generating their company or product tagline. Davis, a marketing creative, knows from experience that working with an agency doesn’t guarantee that you’ll end up with the right slogan.
With Slogan Slingers, users can create a contest, fill in the details about their company or product, establish the right parameters and awards and go! Each contest lasts 7 days and costs US$ 200 (though now for a limited time they are US$ 50) and anyone can submit their work.
The results have a broad reach. For example, Davis told us one of the first companies to use the site was a German advertising company that was hosting a conference in London. It put the call out for users to submit taglines for the event using the site and promoted in among their attendees. The winning bid came from an Australian!
Crowdsourcing Can be Catchy!
For whom is Slogan Slingers ideal? Smaller companies that may not want or be able to invest in a Mad Men-style agency or companies who want to explore their options and establish a brand before bringing in a big agency to build a marketing campaign around their message. Slogan Slingers may also help cultivate relationships with freelancers or other creatives outside your immediate area, who may prove helpful for other content development. At least, it may be interesting to gather others' perspectives about what comes to mind when others learn about your brand.
