Micro blogging network, Twitter has announced two important changes to the company executive team with a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) .

Over the last few months Twitter has gone through a variety of updates aimed at improving the look and appeal of the network. In addition to changes made to the Tweetdeck application in October, the company has also added a feature where users can easily look back at past tweets -- including those that were published when the network initially launched in 2006.

On the business and marketing side, Twitter has updated their search targeting feature and updated their list of certificated products that help marketers with analytics and customer engagement.

Keeping with this improvement trend, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo made the official announcement on his own Twitter page this month regarding two of the company's executive positions. Ali Rowghani, Twitter’s former CFO has been promoted to the company’s COO, while Mike Gupta has been recruited to fill the vacant CFO spot.

Who is Ali Rowghani?

Before joining Twitter in 2010, Ali Rowghani had previously worked for Disney's Pixar Animation from 2002 to 2010 where one of his later positions was CFO of the company. Rowghani joined Twitter in 2010 as the company’s CFO until this announced move.

Who is Mike Gupta?

Starting out as a Vice President at Investment Banking, Gupta was the SVP of Corporate Development and Finance and Chief Treasury Officer at Yahoo! for eight years. He left Yahoo! last year for game company Zynga, where he was the SVP of Finance and Treasurer. Just last month he joined Twitter as their Vice President of Corporate Finance and Treasurer before being promoted, less than two months later, into Rowghani's CFO position.

It's a Shake-up at Twitter

It appears that these promotions aren't the only changes to Twitter's executive team. Matt Derella, Google's Agency Relations Chief and Google's Director of Global Communications, Gabriel Stricker, both left the search-based company to join Twitter

Despite these positive changes, there have are those who moving away from the network. Via his own Twitter page, Vice President of Growth and International Othman Laraki announced he was leaving the company.

With these and other changes to the Twitter platform, it remains to be seen what this says for the network's speculated IPO and its plans for the coming year.
