Vancouver, British Columbia-based Hootsuite announced three new open APIs this week for publishing, user management and url analytics.
They are designed to make it easier for companies to integrate social networking with other systems and services, including customer relationship management, content management and automation platforms.
Hootsuite wants to extend its social media management capabilities to operate within the technologies customers already use, Patience Yi, vice president of platform at Hootsuite, told CMSWire. Yi described it as an effort to embrace digital transformation, which is changing the way companies" interact with their customers across the entire customer journey."
By opening the platform, the company is helping businesses get more value out of Hootsuite and its "best-of-breed partner ecosystem" to provide "meaningful customer experiences and interactions," she said.
Learning Opportunities
Better Together
With the new APIs, companies can more easily connect, extend and build integrations with the Hootsuite platform, Yi continued. They include:
- Hootsuite Publishing API: Connects the Hootsuite platform to other business content creation, content management, and CRM. This allows native Hootsuite publishing capabilities to be used from within those platforms.
- Hootsuite User Management API: Automates management of Hootsuite user accounts with enterprise systems to improve things like onboarding new users and controlling policy.
- Hootsuite Ow.ly API: Shortens URLs to optimize reporting by automatically syncing statistics with other reporting systems
Launched in 2008, Hootsuite claims to be the world’s most widely used social media management platform, available in 16 languages and 175 countries. It touts more than 10 million users on the platform, including 800 of the Fortune 1,000 companies.
