Sitecore Expands into APAC with New Japan Office
A lot of people were excited to learn that Sitecore (news, site) grew 40 percent in 2009, so we’re happy to report that the Web CMS provider is spreading its services even further by opening a new office in Japan—their first location in the Asia region.

Welcome, Mr. Katayama

Masayuki Katayama, formerly a part of Sitecore and Microsoft’s business development team, has been appointed President of the new office.

“I am very much looking forward to offering Japanese companies and public sector organizations the kind of experiences that Sitecore customers throughout the world are already benefiting from,” he said. “Starting today, we aim to provide the best products, services and programs for the Japanese market.”

41 Flavors and then Some

Sitecore provides its slew of solutions—CMS software, online marketing automation and analytics, intranet portal, etc—to more than 40 countries. Among those to recognize the company for its greatness is Gartner, who recently positioned them as a leader in the Visionaries section of the Magic Quadrant for Web CMS.

We've noted what Gartner saw in the company at the end of 2009 before, but just to recap:

  • The usability of Sitecore's interface for authors and editors continues to be best in class. In conversations with Gartner, developers praise the easily customized interfaces.
  • Close alignment with Microsoft technology will continue to make this an attractive add-on to SharePoint for external websites. Gartner has received feedback that points to improved handling with the inclusion of Sitecore, particularly with regard to page assembly, content reuse, multisite management and multichannel delivery.

The expansion into Asian territories will no doubt highlight that recognition, in addition to bring a whole new subset of people to their customer base.

“It is a significant strategic move for Sitecore to have established its first business base in the Asian region, and that it is located in Japan,” said Michael Seifert, CEO, Sitecore. “We believe there is a growing and unfulfilled market for Sitecore solutions here, and several impressive Japanese companies have already adopted Sitecore in other countries and are satisfied by the quality and return of investment Sitecore brings. With Masayuki Katayama’s leadership, we are confident Sitecore Japan will provide valuable solutions for many new customers."
