In an attempt to make this an extra exciting week for bloggers, Google have lead the way with the first major overhaul of Blogger.com. Included in this update are a new look and feel ("Geek Chic"), 26 new design templates, email entry submissions, post comments (finally), blogger bio's (learn about the nerd), a couple of geeky things such as permalinks for posts and conditional rendering tags, and a dashboard feature that folks with multiple blogs will be pleased by. All in all its a pretty no-nonsense release and promises to keep folks like Movable Type -- with their TypePad service and stand alone blogging tool -- on their toes. Blogger.com is one of many services that facilitates web-based micro publishing or web journaling, without the need for technical or web design skills. Others (some free) include TypePad, Movable Type, Radio Userland, Grey Matter, and BlogSpot.
